Synopsis: Love or Death? A simple question really. The choice seems obvious. But. What if you never knew love, what if your life was spent just trying to survive? What if you knew your fate before you were fully grown?

And then you died.

And you were given another chance. A better chance.

This new life depended upon one thing: your job. And so you agreed. You thought it would be simple. You thought it would be cut and dry.

It never is.

And now you are left holding the fate of someone else in the palm of your hand and you have to make the ultimate choice.

Love or Death?

First Thoughts: That cover is so stunning and oh, how I love alternate POVs. This was a fun story, a unique take on death, and I enjoyed delving into the world of the Grim Reaper and his employees.

The Story: Piper escaped death when a man jumped in front of a bus to push her out of the way. The man died to save Piper, but he was given another chance at life by the Grim Reaper…for a price. Dex now has a job to do, but he found that it wasn’t as easy to do as he first thought.

The MCs: Both of them were likeable but I never fell in love with either of them. I wish I had a little more back story on both of them to really understand where they were coming from. I could probably relate to Piper a bit more, even though Dex was the one that was probably more interesting. I wish I knew more about his past so I could enjoy the internal transformation he went through. (Yes, very nit-picky! I still liked them both :) )

The Romance: Well, it didn’t really happen for me. It was very slow, and I couldn’t even feel it in the beginning. I think because of who Dex was. Yes, a little shallow, but I don’t feel like he owned his own skin. (he he he. this actually means a lot).

Twists and Turns: None really, it all played out like I expected. Now, as much as I love twists and turns and double-crossings, this was still a great story and just because I could predict most of it, it did not take away from the book and I still really enjoyed turning the pages.

The Ending: A lot more action and it all came together and tied up quite nicely. It could totally be a stand alone novel.

Rec it? Yes, if you love to support indie and want a nice quick read this is for you. If you want a book heavy into the romance this isn’t it, although the MCs do love each other. I personally like my books to have a little more kissy time, but this was still a good story and I’m very glad I picked it up.
